Ok, not so abstract this time...This piece is called "If I Could Fit in Your Shoes". I did this piece for a special themed show called Shoozam, which was combined with a shoe sale to benefit needy families.
Again, it's an encaustic painting (using pigments in beeswax) on wood panel. There's also a bit of oil pastel and oil paint in there. The toes are actually castings of my feet in the wax medium from a plaster mold I made of my foot. I'm curious what you think of it! It was definitely fun to do, and always fun to explore the encaustic medium.

Amy- I LOVE this image! maybe becasue I love shoes, and also love heavily textured painting- but I think this is too cool. I love the way the shoes are drawn- with such a personal feel... There's a story behind each pair- really, this piece could lend itself to a whole narrative. And I think the molds of your feet are great! They all look different,
even though they are the same... it goes well with each in their own different shoe. I'm really drawn to the color palatte, too- I am a fan of muted earthy tones. You really inspire me to try encaustic- you do a great job with it! It's obvious that this was a fun one to make- I'd love to see a whole series of things in this vein.

Sounds like "Shoozam" was a really cool event- I love the name! Good work!

Amy- I love your inventiveness. If there is one thing I could steal from you artistically it would be the way that everything you make looks like fun. When I make things, there's this constant agony of decision and evaluation, which I just don't see any of in your work. It's a pleasure to look at.
